Library | Closed in the morning for all-college spring kickoff |

The Library has eight Canon EOS M50 cameras available for checkout. This camera can be used to record still photography or to record video. This model of camera allows you to customize shooting features.
Shooting mode: Switch the wheel near shutter button to the desired camera preset. Note that “M” is for full, manual shooting, and “A” is for fully automatic, where zoom, focus, and exposure will be handled entirely by the camera.
Lenses: To attach a lens, align the dot on the lens to the similar white dot on the camera, then insert and rotate until you hear a click. The included 15-45 lens can accommodate a wide area within a photograph. The optional 55-200mm lens allows for long-distancing zooming. Note: camera checkouts only come with the 15-45 lens. Different lenses and microphones are available for checkout with Canon Accessories 1, 2, or 3.
Zoom and focus: Use the smaller zoom ring on the lens to zoom in and out. Use the larger focus ring to focus on your subject when you have established your framing.
Exposure: Set your exposure level using the rocker on the top of the camera body, near the shutter button.
Saving and exporting: Your photos will be saved to the camera’s included SD card. To remove the card, open the battery hatch on the bottom of the camera body, press down slightly on the SD card until there is a slight click and the card ejects from the camera. Insert the SD card label up in a SD card slot on a compatible personal computer, or using one of the Media Lab’s USB cad readers or Mac workstations.
Power: The camera will be provided a battery and charger with the checkout. To swap batteries, open the hatch on the bottom of the camera body, and press the small grey latch to release the battery. Insert the fully charged battery, aligning the copper leads to those of the inside of the camera. The included battery charger can be plugged into a standard power outlet, and indicates that a battery is currently charging with and amber light, or fully charged with a green light.
Wifi: The Wifi button is located on the side of the camera body. It has a symbol of an antenna. If you press this button, the wifi options will pop up on the camera screen and you can add a device (ios/android/pc) to connect with. Full device pairing instructions are in the user manual. If the wifi is not popping up when you press the antenna button, it may need to be enabled in the settings menu- staff in the Lab can assist with this.
