Library Reopening: Home

As part of a phased reopening plan, the Library is now offering comfortable and convenient space for study and computing as well as expanded access to our physical collections and the Library Media Lab. This is in addition to our comprehensive virtual services and collections which remain unchanged. Additional services will be added as spaces are made ready and staff can be hired to expand our hours of operation and open service desks.

This page will be updated as we progress through additional reopening phases.

What to Expect When You Come to the Library

Building Access and Safety

  • You may enter campus from any exterior door but only the Library's lower level entrance is open. For this reason, we recommended you park and enter on the north side of the SRC near the Chappy statue.
  • All individuals (vaccinated and unvaccinated) are required to wear a facemask covering their mouth and nose and maintain social distancing while inside campus buildings.
  • Service desks have plexiglass shields for the safety of you and our staff.
  • Hand sanitizer and wipes are available for you to keep yourself and your workspace sanitized.

Service Location

  • Please enter the Library to pick up requested books, media, and equipment at the lower level Circulation Desk; no appointment is needed.
  • Once you receive an email notifying you that your requested items are ready, come in during any of our open hours.

Study and Computing

  • Check out or return materials in person.
  • Check out reserve textbooks, models, calculators, etc. to use in the Library.
  • Students requesting laptops and hotspots should still request them in advance using the Student Laptop & Hotspot request form.
  • Black/white and color printing and copying
  • Flatbed and open book scanning
  • Paying fines for lost materials and equipment
  • Title lookups for visitors requesting an item from upstairs
  • Digital media creation equipment, software, and support is available in the Media Lab.

NOTE: At this time please contact our staff working virtually with research questions or to make an appointment to meet via phone or video conference. They are ready to assist you with all of your research needs, including selecting, accessing, and using databases, books, and articles.

  • You can browse our New Books, Reference, Periodicals, and Frida Kahlo collections on the lower level.
  • Ask Circulation Desk staff for assistance accessing other books and media located on the upper level.

NOTE: We hope to have newspapers back on the rack before classes begin.
