The Sony FDR-AX53 is a palm-sized Handycam camcorder that produces high-quality 4K video. The camcorder also features Sony's Balance Optical SteadyShot image stabilization technology to help produce smooth and stable footage. It has a touchscreen display and an HDMI output for connecting to large-screen. For enhanced connectivity and remote control, the FDR-AX53 is Wi-Fi and NFC enabled. This lets you use your smartphone or tablet to control the camcorder, as well as wirelessly transfer files to your mobile device and even stream live to Ustream. An assignable ring on the front of the camcorder can be assigned to control of zoom, focus, exposure, iris, shutter speed, exposure, or white balance.
To power on, open the LCD monitor to power on or press the power button on the inside of the camera.
To begin recording, press the red “record” button. Press again while recording to stop.
To take a still photo, press the “photo” button above the viewfinder.
To view a gallery of recorded videos, press the “play” button opposite the inside of the LCD monitor, or press the “play” button on the touchscreen monitor itself.
All recorded media will be saved to the provided SD card.
To remove the SD card, open the SD card bay located opposite the LCD monitor on the camera body. Press down until there is a soft click, and the SD card ejects outward.
Copy your desired files from the SD card to your personal storage device of choice before returning.
To remove battery, press bottom latch to release, and replace with charged battery.
An indicator light will change from amber to green when a battery has been fully charged.
Wifi is available through the menu. You can connect or pair a device for wireless connectivity and transfer. NFC proximity transfer and controls are available from the same menu.
