We created the IL Instruction Development Program as a resource for introducing new academic instruction librarians to COD Library's liaison program, teaching culture, and pedagogical practices. Using ACRL's Standards and Proficiencies for Instruction Librarians as a framework, we designed a hybrid course comprised of four instructional modules, facilitated mentoring, and peer-to-peer teaching observation.
While the course was specifically designed for College of DuPage Library, we believe the content can easily be adapted for use in any academic library setting whether for new librarian orientation or mid-career professional development.
This guide accompanies our presentation at the 2019 Information Literacy Summit at Moraine Valley Community College on Friday, April 5, 2019.
