Not finding the article you want on your professor's list? Try looking at the following resources to find popular articles related to biology:
- New York Times Digital Edition
The New York Times Digital Edition includes access to the Newspaper, the Magazine, the Book Review, the Learning Network for Educators, and a variety of newsletter selections, as well as a variety of images and videos created for the newspaper.

- Google NewsGoogle News will provide newspaper articles, magazine articles, and news videos on a variety of topics. You will not be able to read all articles for free. Keep searching until you find one.
- Science DailyThis free website offers summaries of research articles. Try looking in the Health or Enviro sections to find articles related to class.
- Wired MagazineCOD does not have a subscription to this title's website, but you can skim titles on this page to look for ideas. You can find the text of articles in this magazine in Academic Search Complete.
Finding Scholarly Articles
Once you have your popular article, if your scholarly article is not linked directly there (or is not in full-text once linked), you'll want to search the catalog to see if we have access to the article:
- Library CatalogSearch for your journal (not article) title to see if we have copies online and if so, where.
Having a hard time reading your scientific articles? Try looking in Gale or Credo (below) to find words that you don't understand.
- Gale eBooks
Gale eBooks is a collection of online reference books on a variety of topics including business, history, literature, health & medicine, social science, technology, and more. The inclusion of key word definitions within its concise encyclopedia entries makes this database the perfect starting point for professional and personal research.
- Credo Reference
Credo Reference provides access to a broad selection of dictionaries, bilingual dictionaries, thesauri, encyclopedias, quotations, and atlases, plus a wide range of subject-specific titles. Includes a built-in mind map to help students brainstorm search terms. Credo is a great place to start your research.
