Illinois State Library E-Resources : Accessing eBooks

Accessing eBooks

To access the ISL and COD subscription eBook collections go to the EBSCO eBook Collection link on the database page.

From the EBSCOhost database page, you can either start searching or pick the collection you'd like to search the "choose databases" option above the search box.

Select one or multiple eBook collections to search. Collections are broken up into subjects and age groups.

In the example below the eBook Public Library Collection is selected. This collection has materials for all age groups and general interest topics including mystery, cooking, general fiction, graphic novels, and children's materials.

By selecting eBooks on the top left of the screen you will be able to browse this collection. The highlights and featured topic titles change when you refresh the page. You can search by category, title, author, ISBN/ISSN, and keywords.

The example below shows the Cooking category option.

All ISL-provided eBooks are unlimited users so there is no need to wait to check out a title, multiple people can read the same book at one time. Our individually purchased titles have restricted access based on the purchasing model stated in the record.
