E-Resources With Mobile Apps

Many of the Library e-resources are accessible via the browser and mobile app. Most apps are available on the Apple Store and Google Play Store. 

Sign in with your COD credentials or created login for each app. Most apps will allow users to authenticate with the College's single sign on system and will not require a separate account login. 

Which Apps Have Apps?

  • Biblioboard: Pop-up Picks
    • BiblioBoard Library app
    • Pop-up Picks is a collection of popular eBooks that are freely available to residents of Illinois. 
  • Comics Plus
    • Comics Plus offers unlimited, simultaneous access to thousands of digital comics and manga from dozens of publishers including Dark Horse, Image Comics, Tokyo Pop, and more. The “My Shelf” feature allows users to track which titles they've read and pick back up on titles they have not finished. 
  • EBSCO eBook Collection
    • EBSCO Mobile app
    • Research and eBook app for EBSCOhost databases. 
  • Flipster
    • Flipster is a digital magazine platform featuring popular and educational titles on a variety of subjects and interests. Printing and access to an assortment of back issues is possible. 
  • Kanopy
    • The Kanopy video collection covers a variety of subjects across many disciplines. Kanopy's strongest offerings include global and historical feature films, indie titles, and documentaries. Title availability is split between "in collection" and "request" tabs.

  • LearningExpress
    • Supports those looking to improve core academic skills, pass a high school equivalency test, prepare for college, explore careers, join the military, study for occupational certification tests, become a U.S. citizen and much more. Contains practice tests, interactive tutorials, e-books, articles, and flashcards.

  • Libby (app for OverDrive)
    • OverDrive is a growing collection of popular eBooks, eAudio and magazines available for download. Users may checkout materials for up to three weeks and place holds on eBooks and eAudio currently in use.  
  • LinkedIn Learning
    • LinkedIn Learning is a large, high-quality collection of online video classes and tutorials created by accomplished professional and industry experts covering a broad range of technology, business, and creativity topics. LIL is a great resource for developing skills in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, educational technology, multimedia design, coding, business, and a wide range of other topics.  
  •  Mango Languages
    • Mango is an adaptive learning language interface featuring more than 70 languages. Mango offers critical thinking and memory-building exercises, grammar and culture notes, and conversation-based methodology to help build language and communication skills.

  • Micromedex  
    • Micromedex is an evidence-based, multi-database drug search engine that provides summary and in-depth information for drugs (both prescription and over-the-counter products), diseases, toxicology, and alternative medicine. Its clinical tools include IV compatibility, drug identification, drug interactions, drug comparisons, and clinical calculators.  
  • New York Times Digital Edition 
    • The New York Times Digital Edition provides access to breaking news, podcasts, newsletters, and articles from the daily print edition. Additional features include NYTs Cooking, Wirecuttter, Audio, and limited games. Download the NYTs News, Cooking, or Audio apps for faster access to the content you want most.

  • O’Reilly for Higher Education
    • O'Reilly provides access to a vast collection of eBooks, videos, courses, playlists, and case studies, covering topics such as IT security, networking, infrastructure, software development, programming languages, web development, certification preparation, project management, multimedia design and production, AI and machine learning, business strategies, and more.
  • The Atlantic 
    • The Atlantic offers a wide range of articles on topics including politics, foreign affairs, business and the economy, culture and the arts, technology, and science. COD students, faculty, and staff can access online articles, newsletters, podcasts, the monthly magazine, as well as an extensive archive dating back to 1857, the crossword, and exclusive digital content.

Which Apps Require A Separate Account?

Some e-resources require users to create an account since they do not go through our Single Sign On system. 

Create an account in the browser with your COD email for these apps:

  • Kanopy
  • LearningExpress (use COD email or personal email)
  • Mango Languages
  • New York Times Digital

All other app will require users to use the "Find Your Institution" option and login with your COD credentials.
