Making a World of Difference: Stories about Global Health: Multi-Agency Disaster Simulation

COD Library is excited to host the National Library of Medicine traveling exhibit, Making a World of Difference: Stories about Global Health, from August 25 – October 4, 2025, on the Library’s Upper Floor.

Multi-Agency Disaster Simulation

On July 30, 2025, College of DuPage hosted a mass disaster simulation  involving more than 140 participants, including students from COD’s Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Nursing, Respiratory Care, Physical Therapy and Radiology programs.

Held in the immersive Street Scene lab at the Robert J. Miller Homeland Security Education Center, the scenario simulated a carbon monoxide leak—challenging students to respond without prior knowledge of the emergency.

Working alongside paramedic students from Edward and Loyola University and local emergency partners including DuComm, Superior Ambulance, and the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Department, COD students triaged “victims” and provided critical care across campus in the Health and Science Center.

This high-pressure, interdisciplinary simulation was designed to strengthen critical thinking, teamwork, and clinical decision-makinggiving students hands-on experience that mirrors real-world emergency response.
