COD Library Student Research Symposium: Submit Your Work

The COD Library Student Research Symposium will take place the evening of Monday, May 12, 2025 in the library. Students from across campus will have the opportunity to present their academic research work to an engaged and welcoming audience of faculty, staff, administration, other students, and even interested community members.

Presentations Wanted!

Interested in submitting your work to the Symposium?

Wonderful!  All student work undertaken during the Summer 2024, Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters is eligible.  You'll need to list the name of a faculty sponsor (ideally, the person that you completed your assignment for.)

We welcome work presented in a variety of formats: 

  • A traditional presentation with Google Slides
  • Reading a paper
  • A Poster presentation
  • A music or theater performance
  • Explanation and showcasing of a created object, whether art, engineering, design, fashion, etc.
  • Progress report of a longer research project

Need Help with Your Project? 

Want help fine-tuning your research project, finding scholarly articles or data about your topic, evaluating the information you found for accuracy and/or bias, or thinking through the project in general?  You can come to the reference desk in the Library, chat with us, or  even schedule an appointment with the COD Librarians in order to answer these or any other questions. 

Want help designing an academic poster? Looking for an academic poster template? Care to practice your presentation?  Reach out to WRSA in the Learning Commons to schedule an in person or virtual appointment via the website or by phone (630) 942-3355.

Submit Your Work

Interested in Presenting at the May 2025 Symposium? 

Fill out Student Research Symposium Submission form at the link below.  You'll want to have the following handy: 

  • Names/Contact Info for all students presenting your project
  • A Title for Your Presentation 
  • An Abstract (50 word summary of your work)
  • A bibliography/works cited for your project
  • If you're interested in applying for one of our Research Awards, you'll want your research process essay ready as well. (Look to the menu on the right for more information about that.)

Your project/presentation does not need to be complete until the night of the Symposium presentation. 

Important Information :

  • Submissions are accepted on a first-come, first served basis until we hit 54 total presentations.
  • All student work must be submitted by Monday, April 28, 2025 at 8:00 am.
